LG Unveil 4K Laser Projector With HomeKit, AirPlay 2

Korean electronics behemoth LG have revealed their latest audio-visual device today, in the shape of the LG CineBeam Laser 4K projector (model HU810P). The laser project is, as you can guess by the name, capable of 4K UHD video quality, using DCI-P3 dual lasers. It also includes HDR 10, as well as LG’s own HLG Dynamic Auto Tone Mapping system, and comes with their own webOS interface.

What may be of more interest to our readers, however, is that as with many of their 4K TVs going forward, the CineBeam comes with both HomeKit and AirPlay 2 functionality, which will add to the overall convenience in your smart home, as well as add to the ‘Home Cinema’ experience.

The CineBeam  Laser projector delivers, 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution up to an impressive 300 inches (diagonally) with 2,700 ANSI lumens of brightness. In dedicated theatre rooms or typically lit living rooms, the projector is capable of delivering vibrant, crystal clear images via LG’s new Brightness Optimizer technology. Iris Mode offers two presets – Bright Room Mode and Dark Room Mode – that detects the amount of light in the room to deliver the best picture possible, even delivering a true movie theatre environment if desired. Adaptive Contrast automatically adjusts each frame to achieve the optimal contrast ratio in darker scenes.

For maximum convenience, as well as being AirPlay 2 capable, the CineBeam also features wireless connectivity with home theatre audio systems via Bluetooth. When connecting via HDMI 2.1 with enhanced audio return channel (eARC), the projector delivers 4K images in 10-bit colour with nearly lossless audio quality.

As already mentioned, the projector runs LG’s newest webOS 5.0 platform for quick access to popular streaming services such as and Disney+ and YouTube. As well as Apple AirPlay 2 it also features Screen Share, giving viewers the ability to share content from non-Apple smartphones and tablets at cinematic scale.

it’s due to be on sale worldwide, from January 18th, priced at a fraction under US$3,000, so it’s not going to be for the more budget-conscious amongst us, but it certainly offers a great way towards a true Home Cinema experience.
