As first reported by Yannic over at smartapfel.de, German Smart Home company Eve has now released another device in their arsenal of Thread enabled devices, with the new and updated Eve Room, now in its third generation. The Eve Room provides a trio of sensors – temperature, humidity and VOC levels (Volatile Organic Compounds), which is the same set of sensors also offered by the recently released Aqara TVOC Sensor (read our review HERE).
This update follows on from both the original white Eve Room (which we’re still using incidentally…) that comes without a display, followed by the 2nd gen, with an e-ink display, but still with Bluetooth 5.0, and finally to today’s version, which outwardly looks the same as the previous-gen, but now includes the aforementioned new and exciting wireless protocol known as Thread.
Eve has already taken massive steps in ensuring as many of their lineup of products use Thread, which currently includes some regional models of their Eve Energy smart plug (EU, UK, US & Canada), Eve Door & Window Sensor, Eve Weather, Eve Aqua, Eve Thermo, and the Eve Light Switch (EU), with still a few more to be updated, including the forthcoming upgrade to the company’s leak detector and siren, the Eve Water Guard that we recently uncovered evidence of.
The updated Eve Room sticks to the same price in Europe, at €99.95 and is available to buy directly from the Eve Store or Amazon.de.
