For HomeKit users, the name Ezviz might not really ring any bells, as they aren’t a HomeKit-compatible product manufacturer as such. Things may be changing soon though, as was recently discovered when the company held its annual product unveiling presentation that revealed plans for not only HomeKit integration, but Matter too.
Now it seems, there’s a new camera from the Shenzhen-based company, that’s already HomeKit compatible. The Ezviz C2 Mini S. In a space that now offers multiple choices for HomeKit cameras, this one doesn’t seem to offer anything spectacular, with standard 1080p resolution, and two-way audio, but it does come with an SD Card slot for local recordings, and the ability to connect to 2.4 or 5.0GHz WiFi, which isn’t an option for at least half of all current HomeKit cameras.
Speaking of recordings, there seems to be no clear indication as to whether the camera supports HomeKit Secure Video, although it would be surprising if it didn’t in this day and age.
Currently, it’s only for sale in China, but the company already sell a lot of their products on the international markets already, including their own store on Amazon, so it’ll be interesting to see if this does reach beyond China – if you can stomach the less than ideal design…
