Aqara has today expanded its smart lock range with the release of its first lever lock, the Smart Lock U300. designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the U300 provides a modern alternative to traditional non-deadbolt locks, replacing levers and knobs on single-bore doors. It also includes Matter-over-Thread capabilities and Apple HomeKey, for future-proof integration and usability. The U300 joins Aqara’s other locks – the U100, U50, and U200 – as part of the company’s ever expanding selection of smart locks for the international market.
Built on Thread, the Smart Lock U300 is also Matter-enabled, allowing connection with Aqara’s smart home devices and a wide variety of third-party products. When connected to a Thread Border Router, the U300 can be managed through any Matter-compatible platform (e.g., Alexa, Apple Home, Google Home, Home Assistant, SmartThings) with a suitable Matter Controller, which can also include the company’s own Hub M3 (review HERE, video HERE).
The U300 is one of the first smart lever locks to support Apple HomeKey unlocking, enabling iOS users to tap their iPhone or Apple Watch to unlock, even when the device has no power (only in Express mode). It also offers multiple access methods, such as fingerprint recognition, passcodes (one-time and recurring), app control, voice assistants (i.e. Siri), and Aqara NFC cards. Mechanical keys are included for emergencies, such as power outages or electronic failures.
The Smart Lock U300 automatically locks the door after use, eliminating concerns about forgetting to lock it. For added convenience, it also includes Passage Mode, allowing easy entry and exit, ideal for gatherings, moving furniture, or commercial use. This mode can be activated and deactivated directly on the lock without the need for a mobile app.
The Aqara Smart Lock U300 features a compact design with an ergonomically placed fingerprint reader directly within the handle, and is available in black or silver, with black being initially the only option at launch. The lock’s outer panel is rated IPX4 for weather resistance and is built to withstand temperatures ranging from -30°C ~ 55°C (-22°F ~ 131°F). Thanks to power-efficient Thread technology, the battery life can last up to 10 months between changes.
The U300 offers a user-friendly interface, while offering strengthened household security. The Aqara U300 Smart Lock is now available for purchase from Aqara’s Amazon brand stores in North America (US and Canada). For a limited time you can get 20% off the list price using the code PRNAU300. Availability through other selected retailers in North America, South America, South East Asia, and Oceania is also expected shortly thereafter.
