Eve and Coulisse to Collaborate on Thread Enabled HomeKit Blinds

First spotted by HomeKit enthusiast and blogger Siobhan Ellis, Netherlands-based company Coulisse, are planning on the launch of a range of smart window covering motors that will work with HomeKit, in collaboration with leading HomeKit manufacturer Eve Systems. This new range will include wireless motors to work with roller blinds, Venetian blinds, cellular shades and curtains.

What’s possibly of more interest is that these motors will be the first on the market to support Thread, the up-and-coming wireless protocol recently championed by Eve, Nanoleaf, and Apple, whose HomePod Mini became the first, and currently only, smart speaker to support Thread devices in HomeKit.

Eve are working with Coulisse to help with the aforementioned HomeKit and Thread integration, to bring the range of Coulisse window coverings to a wider market, especially with HomeKit fans, who it could be argued are ‘champing at the bit’ for anything with Thread right now.

Christiaan Roetgering, owner and CEO of Coulisse. ‘Thanks to the Eve software, this new motor range is a gamechanger in the interior window coverings market. The simplicity of both installation and use is unmatched. All complexity is eliminated, and the installation time drastically reduced. Combined with the fact that you don’t need a hub anymore this offers major cost advantages. It opens up the way to make motorized blinds available to a broad audience and widely embraced as a product that brings joy and value to everyday life in the home.’

The company are also keen to stress the role HomeKit and Thread will play in the security of the home, with the Coulisse products being able to work in tandem with other HomeKit enabled products, to provide comfort, privacy, and ease of use via automation, as well as the security of all data connected to HomeKit and your window coverings stored locally, as opposed to a cloud-based solution.
