Back in December, smart lock manufacturer Level announced they were preparing to introduce a new accessory to their product lineup, namely the Level Keypad. With a slight delay from the originally slated January release, the lock is now available to purchase directly from the company’s website for US$79.99, although if purchased with one of the company’s locks, you get US$20.00 off the total price.
The new keypad, which will work with all of the company’s smart locks – Level Lock (standard and ouch editions), and Level Bolt – uses Bluetooth LE 5.0 to connect directly to the lock itself and is capable of storing up to 50 separate codes, which will be more than enough for anyone (unless you happen to live in Buckingham Palace!).
The keypad is suitable for outdoor use, with an IP65 rating, and comes with two AAA batteries that should last up to 2 years with typical usage. There’s an including mounting kit, and the capacitive keypad itself lights up when any of the buttons are pressed, so you can see the numbers even in low light. Whilst it’s IP65 waterproof, it’s also pretty well protected against high temperatures, with a range of -4ºF ~140ºF / -20ºC ~ +60ºC although maybe not so much against a cold Canadian Winter.
At present, even though the company’s locks are available on Amazon, the keypad seems to be exclusive to the company website, although it’s almost certain to arrive on Amazon stores eventually.
