Yeelight Announce Matter Support For Their Pro Gateway

Yeelight, a brand we’ve featured a lot in the past, and most recently with their Cube Lamp series (video here, review here) has officially announced its support for the Matter protocol across its entire Yeelight Pro product line. This development allows for seamless integration with major IoT platforms such as Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung SmartThings, and more. By upgrading the existing S20 gateway, all Yeelight Pro users can now enjoy the benefits of the Matter protocol, including ease of use, extensive connectivity, and high security.

Yeelight Pro is a premium smart lighting product line known for its professional lighting design, stable smart lighting control system, and high-end smart lighting devices. It offers an integrated solution aimed at providing a premium smart lighting experience. The product portfolio includes smart lights, sensors, smart switches, and more. With Matter protocol compatibility, Yeelight Pro strengthens its commitment to reliable and secure connectivity, fostering greater compatibility and enabling enhanced connections between smart devices for users.

It should be noted, however, that the majority of devices as part of the Pro line that connect to the hub use Bluetooth Mesh technology, which doesn’t sit too well with some users, as Bluetooth is seen as a bit of a dead end in the smart home, with few exceptions.

Coaster Li, VP of Yeelight Overseas Division, expressed excitement about the successful integration of the Matter protocol into the Yeelight Pro product line. Li stated,

This integration allows our products to seamlessly work with an expanding range of smart home devices, empowering our customers with more freedom and flexibility to create their desired lighting environments.

With the addition of Matter protocol support, Yeelight Pro offers effortless connections and unlocks endless possibilities for smart experiences. Users can easily control and personalize their lighting settings through a single hub or mobile app, making it more convenient than ever to create the perfect ambience for any occasion. Moreover, the inclusion of the Matter protocol ensures reliable and secure local connectivity, further enhancing user satisfaction.

During the recent Google I/O 2023 event, new Google Home APIs were introduced, simplifying the process of building Matter devices and facilitating easy setup and control through the app. Yeelight was prominently featured at the event as a strong supporter and adopter of the Matter upgrade, further demonstrating its commitment to advancing smart home integration and delivering on its promise of “Smart Lighting Made Easier.
